PROLOGUE:
The Shaman asks the Great Eagle Spirit for his help. The Great Eagle Spirit answers. The great bald eagle makes his way out onto the Aleutian Islands to Unalaska for an auspicious rendezvous.
CHAPTER ONE. CARL: Carl and his friends plan a great day with a trip to Agnes Beach and Nateekin Bay in Carl's dory.
CHAPTER TWO. GRANDFATHER: The grandfather who wants Carl to become interested in his ancestors.
CHAPTER THREE. TRIP TO AGNES BEACH AND NATEEKIN BAY: Carl takes his friends to Agnes Beach to taste some salmon he has drying and then on to Nateekin Bay to look for otters.
CHAPTER FOUR. THE STORM AND RESCUE: Lulled into a deep sleep, while watching otters in the kelp bed, Carl wakes up to the beginning of a severe storm and crashes his boat on the rocky beach of a deserted island.
CHAPTER FIVE. ALTUG: Carl is rescued from the freezing water of the Bering Sea by Altug, from his long ago past, who tells him about his ancestors.
CHAPTER SIX. THE ANCIENT VILLAGE OF UNALASKA: Altug takes Carl to his very own village of Unalaska as it existed hundreds of years ago to meet his long forgotten family.
CHAPTER SEVEN. THE SHAMAN TALKS TO CARL: The old Shaman tells Carl how important he is to the old people.
CHAPTER EIGHT. THE BROKEN THREAD: Why the cultural ties between Carl's world today were severed from his past.
CHAPTER NINE. THE COVENANT: What the Great Eagle Spirit wants Carl to do.
CHAPTER TEN. CARL IS RESCUED BY HIS GRANDFATHER: After his rescue, Carl wonders if he was dreaming. He is not so sure, but tells his grandfather all about Altug.
CHAPTER ELEVEN. BACK HOME: Carl has gained new respect and appreciation for his grandfather and the history of his people.
